Occupy mayhem

Occupy Chicago protester
Like a car careening off of a cliff, the inevitable occurred last night with the Occupy Wall Street movement. It turned violent. A "general strike" called by Occupy Oakland shut down the nation's fifth-most busy port; it saw 70 or so anarchists dressed in ninja costumes take over a foreclosed building. I believe the crime here is called trespassing. Another crime committed by the rabble was vandalizing a Whole Foods, the store was closed for 17 hours.

Michelle Malkin has a whole bunch of photographs that you won't see in the mainstream media, although I can excuse them for not using the ones with obscenities.

I'll be in Denver next week, and I can assure you that I will also capture some disturbing photographs such as the ones Looking at the Left posted from the Mile High City.

As I wrote yesterday, much of the blame for the Occupy Wall Street mayhem belongs to big city mayors who were stupid enough to allow tent cities for the OWS protesters. Chicago is a notable exception and Mayor Rahm Emanuel should be commended for his foresight.

Oakland's mayor, Jean Quan, is still siding with the protesters who are destroying her city. She should don a dunce cap for the rest of her term of office.

Mayors have gone from allowing the barbarians into their city, to housing them, to praising them.

There is some good news: New York's mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has turned against the protesters he once embraced, saying that they are and making Manhattan less safe by not reporting crimes committed by their brethren. In Baltimore, the tent shanties there no longer have electricity. Why did they get it in the first place?
