I just watched Fox News' Neil Cavuto interview Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), and the pair discussed the senator's amendment to a transportation appropriations bill that would have banned what I've been calling Barack Obama stimulus "campaign signs."
The amendment phrased it a bit differently:
"Statement of Purpose: To prohibit the use of stimulus funds for self-congratulatory signage that allows lawmakers to promote their spending of taxpayer dollars on stimulus projects."
Gregg's amendment didn't pass-- 52 senators, all of them Democrats, voted against it, 45 voted "Yea," all of the Republicans, plus a few Dems.
As regular readers of this blog know, I've been closely documenting the proliferation of these placards, which in my opinion have been placed on roadsides for one purpose: to promote Obama's policies.
There is even one of these signs inside Yosemite National Park.
UPDATE September 17: The Wall Street Journal weighs in on the sign amendment right here.
