While reviewing my photographs from the Marathon Pundit family trip to Yosemite National Park of three years ago--I came across a this picture of a butterfly I hadn't seen before--a Mormon fritillary. Other than including Utah and most of the rest of America west of the 100th meridian--I don't have a clue how this orange butterfly got its name.
This small insect was flying near some of nature's living forms of life--giant sequoias at Tuolumne Grove.
