California Collision: Sea and Sand

Here by the sea and sand
Nothing ever goes as planned

The Who, "Sea and Sand, 1973.

After a week in northern California, it was time for a march to the sea. After spending the night in Santa Rosa, California, the Marathon Pundit family decided it was time to get a good look at the Pacific Ocean. We journeyed west to the Point Reyes National Seashore.

The western part of the part is dominated by grasslands. Fog another feature of the park, so much so that the 1980 John Carpenter-directed "The Fog" was filmed there.

Swimming? Don't even think about it. Not only is the water cold, it the surf is very strong, and inconsistent--sneaker waves can disrupt a seemingly calm ocean.
