California leads the nation in a lot of things. Since it has by far the most people, and it's the third largest state in area, that makes sense.
But did you know that California is the top producer of strawberries?
Strawberries are not tolerant of hot weather, which is why cultivation is concentrated along the Pacific coast. However, the field on the right is in Oakdale, in the Central Valley. If the plot looks strange, it is--it's utilizing the plastic and drip irrigation system to nurture the delicious fruit.
The strawberry stand is also located in that valley, it's just east of Merced.
