I've completed my Lake Superior and Lake Huron Upper Peninsula lighthouses, now it's time for the Lake Michigan part of the tour. The Manistique East Breakwater Light was first lit in 1916, it was automated in 1916.
Manistique was an important logging center in the late 18th and early 19th centuries; this lighthouse was built to protect ships--and of course the commerce--of the town.

Are any of the light houses you've
seen during your UP adventure still
in operation? Probably for tourist
