Latgale performers in the Latvian Song and Dance Festival marching in Riga

Every five years the Latvian Song and Dance Festival is held in Riga, the capital city of the middle Baltic State. Rightfully Wikipedia deems it "one of the largest amateur choral events in the world and an important event in Latvian culture and social life."

A parade is part of the festivities. Mrs. Marathon Pundit snapped this photograph of performers from the Latgale region.

In the center is the Latvian flag.
