Ronald Reagan was a lifeguard for seven summers in Dixon, Illinois. Besides saving the lives of 77 Rock River swimmers, perhaps Dutch's favorite moment as a lifeguard was when he retrieved a man's dentures, which earned him a $10 tip.
But had Reagan earned $100,000 in that job--adjusted for inflation, of course--perhaps he never would have left Dixon and someone else would have been our 40th president.
But as BankruptingAmerica tells us, there really are $100,000-a-year lifeguards--courtesy of the taxpayers.
