The exodus of major trade shows from Chicago's McCormick place, fueled by excessive union labor costs, is an additional drag on the already struggling city economy.Which is why Mayor Richard Daley is considering a privatization of sorts of the exhibit hall, although in fact a rental or leasing agreement for the duration of trade shows is what the mayor has in mind.
The state agency that runs McCormick Place and Navy Pier is filled with political appointees who are simply not up to the task of running things.
