Photos: Chicago area shrine to Kaczynski and Seweryn

Chicago-area Poles are flocking to Niles' Saint Adalbert Cemetery to honor the memories of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and local artist Wojciech Seweryn, whose father was one of the 21,000 victims of the 1940 Katyn Forest Massacre. Kaczynski's entourage was flying to western Russia for a 70th anniversary remembrance service for the victims.

They were among the 97 victims killed in Saturday's plane crash near Smolensk.

The Katyn Forest Memorial is near the Milwaukee Avenue entrance to the cemetery. Flowers, seven-day candles, and two large photographs of Kaczynski and Seweryn adorn it.

Police were on hand for traffic control.

About 50 people were there mid-afternoon on Sunday.
