Tucker Carlson: Chicago gun measures fail as murder rate skyrockets

The answer for curing Chiraq of its high murder rate is too crack down on guns. Right? But Fox News' Tucker Carlson says, correctly, that Chicago already has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation.

New York and Los Angeles have far more residents than Chicago. But America's third largest city, for now, that is, suffered more murders than both places combined.

Chiraq Rising: 6 dead and 55 wounded over New Year weekend

On New Year's Eve in downtown Chicago the second annual Chi-Town Rising celebration occurred. Meanwhile in the rest of the city it was Chiraq Rising. Six people were shot to death over the three day New Year weekend--and at least 55 others were wounded.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald J. Trump excoriated Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Twitter."Chicago murder rate is record setting ," Trump Tweeted, "4,331 shooting victims with 762 murders in 2016. If Mayor can't do it he must ask for Federal help!"
In other Chiraq news, the Chicago Police Department hurriedly announced that Chicago's 2016 total was 762 yesterday. Why? Because Monday was a federal holiday, a great day to dump bad news, although the CPD is using an old playbook, people get their news at all times now on their smartphones and tables.

But why the hurry? Those 762 murders were 57 percent more killings than last year--and more than New York City and Los Angeles combined. But Hey Jackass, which I trust more than the CPD PR hacks, has this to say:
While the 800 homicide gorilla was denied entry into 2016's frunchroom by the time the clock struck midnight, the year's final tally will most likely exceed the 800 level soon due to late passings, reclassified death investigations and found bodies. Have yourself a safe and prosperous new year.
Hey Jackass' murder total for last year is as of now 795.

Have a safe and prosperous 2017, staying out of Chiraq will assist you in doing that.

Assange says Russia not source for Podesta emails

Meanwhile the Democratic Party, the old guard media, and yes, a few Republicans are pushing the Russian hack fake news story.

From the Daily Mail:
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said Barack Obama is 'trying to delegitimize the Trump administration' by claiming the Russian government hacked Democrats' emails during the bitter presidential election.

Assange, whose interview with Sean Hannity will air on Fox News tonight, also reiterated his claims that Russia was not the source of the hacks.

He told Hannity 'with a thousand per cent' confidence that the Russian government was not responsible for emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman.

Only in Detroit: Anthropologist to examine mummified remains found in garage

A different Detroit garage
Some news stories can only come from the Motor City.

From the Detroit Free Press:
A University of Michigan anthropologist is to perform an autopsy Tuesday on the mummified and unidentified remains discovered last week in the garage of a Detroit house.

The body is so decayed that a specialist is needed to discern its gender and age as well as the cause of death, said Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office spokesman Lloyd Jackson.

"They don't know the sex or approximate age, so that's why they need an anthropologist," Jackson said Monday.

The decomposed body was found Thursday face down in the backseat of an early 1990s Plymouth Acclaim inside the garage. Authorities have described the finding as a skeleton of brown, leathery bones dressed in pants, shirt and a sweater.

BBC calls Whitman a "leading Republican," neglects to say she backed Hillary

Affordable Energy Means
American Jobs
Wow, someone needs to educate the BBC's environment analyst Roger Harrabin on American politics. He interviewed Christine Todd Whitman, the former governor of New Jersey who was head of the Environmental Protection Agency for 18 months. His story, where he calls Whitman a "leading Republican," discusses her criticism of President-elect Donald Trump's stance on the environment, particularly his disdain for so-called clean energy while favoring fossil fuels.

Tomorrow the "Beeb's" interview will air, so maybe some of my criticisms will be moot. Maybe not. But here we go. Whitman is a has-been who hasn't held public office in over a decade. This so-called "leading Republican" endorsed Hillary Clinton over Trump, which Harriban fails to mention. What has been doing since she left here EPA job since 2003? Serving on boards--public life can be very rewarding--and running Whitman Strategy, a lobbying group, and comparing Trump to Adolf Hitler, none of that information made it into Harriban's article.

Leading Republican? Perhaps within the shameful crony capitalism wing of the GOP.

Oh, Whitman Strategy pushes so-called clean energy.

Media bias, or should I say media stupidity, is alive and well in 2017. Happy New Year all the same.

On this day in 1967: Reagan sworn in as governor of California

Reagan statue,
Dixon, IL
While not as unique as Donald Trump's route to the White House, after all, unlike every other president he never held public office nor was he a general, Ronald's Reagan path to the presidency-- for nearly three decades he was an actor--was much different as well.

Fifty years ago Reagan was sworn in as governor of California. His critics called him dumb, extreme, and just an actor. Trump's critics call him dumb, extreme, and just a reality TV star.

The idea of either man becoming president a year before their elections was viewed as an absurdity.

But Reagan and Trump won even though the elites and the media scoffed at them.

Leftist congresswoman in New Year's resolution vows to "Be a fierce leader of the Resistance" to Trump

US Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)
Last year US Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), who nominally represents me in Congress, excoriated Republican Senate leaders for refusing to move on President Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland to the US Supreme Court, saying in a statement, "This outrageous obstruction continues to paralyze our government and prevents us from getting anything done."

But now that we are three weeks away from Donald J. Trump's inauguration, suddenly obstruction seems like a sound strategy to her as she explains to me and her other 700,000 constituents in her New Year's resolutions email,

Shakowsky would like to:
Be a fierce leader of the Resistance. Given the troubling and dangerous rhetoric that defined Donald Trump's campaign, and the growing list on unconscionable Cabinet appointments that he has made, it is clear that we must keep a watchful eye on our next President. We must form a Resistance on behalf of working men and women, religious and ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ individuals, and anyone else
Fierce resistance? Where is the concept of the loyal opposition? In Schakowsky's leftist mind, apparently when her party is not in power, there can be no loyal opposition.

"Unconscionable Cabinet appointments?" I happen to heartily approve of most of Trump's staff picks.

If the name Schakowsky sounds familiar to you, it's because she is the husband of Democratic Party black ops practitioner, convicted felon Robert Creamer, who was exposed as having a link to organized violence at a Trump rally in Chicago last spring. Creamer was working with the Clinton campaign through Democracy Partners, a group he founded. Odd thing, Creamer's bio there omits his prison stay.

Even though Creamer is an ex-con, he visited the White House 340 times during the Obama presidency. That's a about once a week.Well, Obama did promise a new kind of politics.

Another Schakowsky resolution is to "maybe even get my dogs Eleanor and Franklin to stop jumping on people." Man, as I've said before, liberals politicize and ruin everything. Eleanor and Franklin! As in Roosevelt. Ugh. Why can't she give her dogs normal names like Max or Buttons.

Meanwhile, I will continue to my solid but polite resistance to Schakowsky and Creamer in 2017.

ILL-inois: Crooked Chicago pol collected $2 million pension

Former Cook County Clerk Morgan Finley was not one of those 2016 deaths people mourned, outside of family members.

Even in death Finley, a Democrat who learned his trade from the first Mayor Daley in the Chicago South Side Bridgeport neighborhood, is an embarrassment to Illinois.

From the Watchdogs at the Chicago Sun-Times:
Sentencing Finley in 1989 to 10 years in prison for racketeering and attempted extortion, a federal judge told him, "What an honor it was to hold your office, but you made it a "monument" to "corruption."

The lengthy sentence also took into account allegations Finley threatened an FBI agent while the trial was going on.

Despite going to prison, Finley's government pension checks kept coming for decades, until his death in September at 91. Altogether, he collected nearly $2 million over the years, according to pension fund records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.

And the pension checks continue, though at a reduced rate, even after his death: His widow gets survivor's benefits starting at around $5,500 a month, pension records show.
