On this day in 1967: Reagan sworn in as governor of California

While not as unique as Donald Trump's route to the White House, after all, unlike every other president he never held public office nor was he a general, Ronald's Reagan path to the presidency-- for nearly three decades he was an actor--was much different as well.

Fifty years ago Reagan was sworn in as governor of California. His critics called him dumb, extreme, and just an actor. Trump's critics call him dumb, extreme, and just a reality TV star.

The idea of either man becoming president a year before their elections was viewed as an absurdity.

But Reagan and Trump won even though the elites and the media scoffed at them.
