After 30 years in Washington, Durbin has nothing new to offer Illinois

Earlier this week, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) posted on his Facebook page that an unnamed Republican leader told President Obama, "I cannot even stand to look at you." That's a provocative story--except the White House says it never happened.

But Durbin continued to wallow in the lie.

From the Chicago Tribune:
Republican Doug Truax, who has never held public office and is circulating petitions in a bid to challenge Durbin next year, criticized the senator for sending an emailed appeal for cash with what he called the “discredited claim,” and said Durbin should return any money raised by it.

A Truax aide gave the Tribune a copy of the Durbin fundraising email, which asks recipients to send his campaign $16, "one dollar for every day of the reckless and irresponsible Republican Shutdown."
Durbin has been a Washington pol for thirty years--does he have anything positive, or even anything new to offer Illinoisans? I say no. It's time for the rest of the Land of Lincoln to wake up and send Durbin into retirement.
