Fall colors at Fort Sheridan, part two

This morning I'm returning to Fort Sheridan, the old military base on Lake Michigan near Highland Park, Illinois, for some more fall color photos.


The howitzer is nicely positioned in front of some cottonwood trees.


Had to get some purple in this entry.

Fort Sheridan Cemetery.


The tree with orange leaves is a sugar maple.


The meadows are still pretty at Fort Sheridan,,,


As you can see.


I had to climb on a rock to get a shot of this birch tree--which are rare in Illinois--with the yellow foliage.


Here is a view from one of the many Fort Sheridan bluffs.


We began with cottonwoods and we and with them.
