Ray Davies: 20th Century Man

As our nation is in a perilous state, until now and Election Day I'm going to feature songs that champion individual freedom--or condemn government overreach for my Saturday Musical Selection.

Last week Horslips' The Man Who Built America was celebrated. Today we turn to an old friend, Ray Davies of the Kinks--as he sings "20th Century Man" from the essential album, Muswell Hillbillies.

We have the same problems in the 21st Century:
I was born in a welfare state
Ruled by bureaucracy
Controlled by civil servants
And people dressed in grey
Got no privacy, got no liberty
Cos the twentieth century people Took it all away from me.
