In addition to Rahm Emanuel, another prominent Illinois Democrat will address the DNC later today--Governor Pat Quinn. A flat, unengaging speaker, it's likely the networks will cut to their own analysts during his time slot. However, if TV newsers choose to air Quinn's spot, I recommend that they mention to their viewers that Illinois' unemployment rate is 8.9 percent--higher than the national average. The state is operating under a nation's-highest $44 billion deficit, and the pensions for Illinois' workers are underfunded by $130 billion. Last month Quinn called a special session of the General Assembly to fix the pension mess.
What happened? Nothing.
And Illinois' personal income tax was hiked by 67 percent last year.
The Democrats want to win in November, right?
