Blago should take I-80 to prison so we can throw rotten vegetables at him

I-80, Archway Museum, Nebraska
I was driving home from the Newt Gingrich rally in Rosemont--more on that later--when I heard Rod Blagojevich's farewell speech on the eve of his turning himself in at the Federal Correctional Institute Englewood in Colorado.

He talked about how wonderful he was--and how he could have used more humility as governor. And of course the hair-brained and disgraced former governor pumped up his achievements as governor, such as the "free" mammogram and pap smear programs for uninsured women and the AllKids insurance program, which by the way, isn't really for all children, and the free rides on Chicago's el trains and buses.

But Blago didn't mention how the state paid for those programs.

Because these things weren't properly funded.

Illinois' backlog of unpaid bills is expected to reach $8 billion by the end of the year.

Moody's credit rating of Illinois is the lowest of the 50 states.

By all likelihood Blago is flying to Denver. I only wish he was being driven to Colorado so Illinoisans could throw rotten vegetables at his car as he rides past. Iowans, Nebraskans, and Coloradans could join in too.
