Roskam statement on 9/11

Rep. Peter Roskam, (R-IL)
Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), the House Chief Deputy Whip, issued a statement about the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

BLOOMINGDALE, IL – Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06), issued the following statement on the tenth anniversary of September 11th:

Ten years after that fateful September morning, we remember the thousands of victims and pay tribute to the heroes that emerged, from the first responders to Wheaton College's own Todd Beamer – an ordinary citizen who showed extraordinary courage on Flight 93.

September 11th was a great human tragedy but also an awakening about the threat Americans face from terrorists who will stop at nothing to destroy our way of life. Fortunately, justice was brought to Osama bin Laden this past May, and we are safer for it. But the threat of terror remains and Americans must stay vigilant. Anything less would be to forget one of the paramount lessons of September 11th.

Americans have felt the effects of September 11th in many ways in the decade since. I want to pay particular tribute to the brave men and women in our military who have fought for our freedom this past decade, especially those that gave their lives.
