In a special election for the New York City congressional seat vacated by the disgraced Anthony Weiner, Republican Bob Turner defeated Democrat David Weprin. Turner turned the race into a referendum on President Obama. He won. Not surprisingly, the Democrats are saying Turner's win is not a referendum on the president. The GOP also held onto a seat in a special election for a House seat in Nevada.
In the New York race, registered Democrats outnumbered Republicans 3 to 1.
If the Dems aren't panicking, they should be. They had controlled that New York seat since 1923.
