Strawbs: Part of the Union

There is some controversy in regards to "Part Of The Union," a big UK hit in 1973 for the British folk-rock band Strawbs. Is it pro-labor or anti-labor? I'm going with the latter. Besides, sadly, one essence of humanity is self-destructive behavior.
Now I'm a union man
Amazed at what I am
I say what I think, that the company stinks
Yes I'm a union man

When we meet in the local hall
I'll be voting with them all
With a hell of a shout, it's "Out brothers, out!"
And the rise of the factory's fall

A great tune. Besides, how can you not like a song performed by a man wearing a lime green suit?
