Good news continues to come in from the state to the east of me, Indiana. Republican US Senate candidate Dan Coats raised over $1.5 million in the second quarter of this year. Over 70 percent of his contributions were from Hoosiers and over 60 percent of the cash he raised came in amounts of less than $200. Coats ended the quarter with over $1 million cash on hand.
On the Democratic side, Rep. Brad Ellsworth hasn't released his second quarter numbers yet, but he's being quite creative in raising money during the third. The man who voted against the stimulus before voting for it was in Canada over the weekend, participating in a Democratic group fundraiser with failed mob banker Alexi Giannoulias of Illinois and other Senate candidates at a trial lawyers convention.
