INSen: Coats 51%, Ellsworth 30%

After a 2008 flirt with Obama-ism, Indiana seems to be returning to its Republican roots. Barack Obama became the first Democrat to win the Hoosier State since 1964.

In the latest Rasmussen Reports poll on the Indiana US Senate race, Republican Dan Coats has a commanding lead over Democrat Brad Ellsworth, 51 percent to 30 percent.

Ellsworth, a congressman representing a southern Indiana district, aired his first television ad last week. He mentioned that his is a former sheriff, but "forgot" to add that he is a current member of Congress. Evan Bayh, a Democrat, currently holds the seat--he's retiring.
