Jim Ryan on the stump

I had the pleasure of attending a fundraiser for Jim Ryan tonight in Lombard. The former Illinois Attorney General is running for governor and is leading in all of the polls, but a tough fight still lies ahead for the onetime Golden Glove champion boxer. I got to talk with Ryan a bit, about blogging and running--he's a real fun guy one-on-one.

He was more serious when he addressed the crowd, and he gave what I hope will be his stump speech--the Republican is determined and passionate about fixing Illinois.

There's a lot of repair work to be done.

The primary election takes place on February 2.

Click here to visit the official Jim Ryan site. You'll find Ryan's Facebook group here, and you can follow his Tweets here.

It doesn't bother you that he ran the Nicarico case off the rails, railroading two innocent men on death row for years?

Or that he set up an entrapment scheme to catch out-of-state gun owners violating federal firearm shipping laws (thus trying to send them to federal prison) by telling them that their actions would be legal?

The guy is barely a Republican, and he's certainly no reformer.
