I'm not really sure what that structure in the picture is. I captured that image late in the day on US Route 30, better known as the Lincoln Highway, in Lee County, Illinois. To me, it's too fat for a silo, too narrow for a barn, and not airy enough to be a corn crib.
It's a nice picture, though. Whatever it is.

Missile silo? That surely isn't copper, is it? Whatever it is, nice find.

looks like a dark enough place for

I agree that it's a grain storage bin. The windows on top are surely for ventilation, not for the view. Maybe they can be opened from the outside because they surely can't be opened from the inside if the bin is full of grain.
