Ray Davies: Victoria

When Great Britain was great, Victoria reigned. Ray Davies sang about Queen Bess on the Kinks' Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire).

Listening to the lyrics, one would think Charles Dickens wrote them.
Long ago life was clean,
Sex was bad and obscene,
And the rich were so mean,
Victoria was my queen.
In 2009 Davies recorded some of his classic Kinks songs with a choir for the The Kinks Choral Collection.

Watch as Davies with a choir perform "Victoria" at the Glastonbury festival in 2010.

God save the Kinks!
