Ray Davies: Return to Waterloo

While still leading the Kinks, Ray Davies released a solo album, Return to Waterloo, which was the companion piece to his film of the same name. Davies directed.

"Waterloo Sunset" was a hit for the band in 1967. Davies presents a darker vision of London and Waterloo Station. Sad-eyed Kenneth Colley plays the mid-life crisis suffening rail rider. He will look familiar to you--he played Darth Vader's assistant in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Longtime villain Tim Roth, "Honey Bunny" in Pulp Fiction, plays an unruly passenger.

Davies, along with a couple other Kinks, appear as well.

Today's Saturday musical selection is the title track.

If the film came out in 1967, I doubt that's Tim Roth as the unruly passenger - he would've been only 5 or 6 at the time.
