Chiraq: 2 dead and at least 30 wounded over weekend

The first full weekend of September was calmer than Labor Day weekend--two people were murdered and at least others were wounded. One of those wounded was a North Side gang member who was shot nine times yesterday afternoon. He's in stable condition.

Sanders campaign dislikes comparisons to Howard Dean

USA Today is reporting that staffers from the Bernie Sanders campaign are dismissing comparisons of their guy to Howard Dean, who ran a flame-out effort for president in 2004.

Let's see. Both men are originally from New York and then moved to Vermont. They're both left-wing radicals.

Why are Sanders' people upset? Is it because Sanders, like Dean in '04, has no chance of winning the presidency?

Chicago cops save toddler choking on candy

It was three Chicago police officers, not Black Live Matters activists, who saved the life of a two year-old who was choking on candy. The incident occurred in Englewood, which is nearly 99 percent black, so it's a safe assumption that the toddler was black too.

No Hillary wipe?

If Hillary's "wiped" emails are recovered, it could be game over for the former First Lady.

Although considering that her poll numbers continue to plummet--it might already be game over.

From the Washington Post:
The company that managed Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private e-mail server said it has "no knowledge of the server being wiped," the strongest indication to date that tens of thousands of e-mails that Clinton has said were deleted could be recovered.

Clinton and her advisers have said for months that she deleted her personal correspondence from her time as secretary of state, creating the impression that 31,000 e-mails were gone forever.

There is a distinction between e-mails' being deleted and a server being wiped. If e-mails are deleted or moved from a server, they appear to no longer exist on the device. But experts say, depending on the condition of the server, underlying data can remain on the device, and the e-mails can often be restored.

Normally a name such as Spartan would scare people away from a motel, but not in Michigan.

That is because the nickname of Michigan State University is the Spartans, who play the Oregon Ducks this evening in East Lansing in the top college football matchup this weekend.

The Spartan Motel is on US 131 in Three Rivers south of Kalamazoo.

Baltimore's mayor not running for reelection

In a hastily called morning press conference, Baltimore's embattled mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, announced that she won't be running for re-election.

After the 1967 riots devastated Detroit, its mayor at the time, Jerome Cavanagh, also chose not to run again.

Widespread rioting, arson and looting have a way of ending political careers.

Scott Walker visits Eureka College, Reagan's alma mater

We need more Republican presidential candidates to visit sites along Illinois' Ronald Reagan Trail.

Yesterday one of them gave a speech in Eureka.

From the Peoria Journal Star:
GOP presidential candidate and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker laid out his Day One plan to “wreak havoc on Washington” in a speech Thursday at Eureka College, the alma mater of President Ronald Reagan.

Walker's "big and bold" plans for his first day in the Oval Office include repealing Obamacare, terminating the pending nuclear deal with Iran and ending President Barack Obama’s actions on immigration.

"To wreak havoc on Washington, America needs a leader with real solutions. Political rhetoric is not enough — we need a plan of action," Walker told a crowd of about 200 in Eureka College’s chapel.

Walker pointed to his experiences as governor, including taking on union bosses in the face of protests and death threats to make Wisconsin a right-to-work state and surviving a repeal election, as evidence he's "been tested like no one else in this race."
