"Well, the difference was," the retired general said, "I campaigned for two years, and I went to every town and city--and I did it multiple times, put on about 150,000 miles on my vehicle to get out there and do the true grass roots campaign that everyone talks about, but few people do it."
Keep in mind, Boldcuc is talking about one of America's smallest states, New Hampshire, not Montana or Texas.
