Six dead, including 12-year-old boy, and at least 25 others wounded over weekend in Chicago

The new year got off to a bad start as six people were shot to death over the first weekend of 2022, including a 12-year-old boy who was killed inside his home in Englewood on the South Side while lying in a bed.

Other fatalities include a man also killed in Englewood--this was the first fatal shooting of 2022. In neighboring Gresham another man was shot to death.

Elsewhere in the city there were two West Side fatal shootings, one in Humboldt Park and one in Austin.

On the Southwest Side a man was shot to death in Little Village.

At least 25 other people were wounded over the New Year's Day weekend.
