Four killed and at least 25 wounded over weekend in Chicago

First the good news. In the first weekend of 2022, for the first time in months there were no murders over a weekend in Chicago. A freezing rainstorm on that Saturday of that weekend probably contributed to the apparent peacefulness.

But this last weekend brought us four murders and at least 25 others were wounded.

Of the fatalities two occurred on the South Side, one in Brainerd and the other in Fuller Park, two on the West Side, one in Humboldt Park and the other in Austin. In 2021 Austin suffered, according to Hey Jackass, the most murders, 73 of them, of any neighborhood but Garfield Park.
