Nine murdered in Chiraq Monday in deadliest day of 2016

It was a very bloody Monday in Chicago--nine people were shot to death--which makes it the deadliest day of 2016. Two of the murders took place in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side; one of those killings occurred around the corner from where a 10-year-old boy was wounded while sitting on his front porch.

Homicides in Chicago are up over 40 percent from 2016.
