There was a Republican wave election last week that even reached Illinois. But save for one state senate seat, the General Assembly was not effected, thanks to the disgraceful 2011 gerrymandered remap engineered by House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton, both Chicago Democrats.
