SpiteHouse: Officials "dragging feet" in regards to reopening Grand Canyon

After reaching a deal with Utah to re-open its national parks there, the radicalized Interior Department, which oversees the National Park Service, is slow to respond to Arizona's offer to pay for their operation during the partial government shutdown.

Relations between President Obama and Arizona's outspoken Republican governor, Jan Brewer, are frosty.

Hmm...

From the Washington Times:
But Utah is the only state to get a deal so far. Arizona has been desperate to get the Grand Canyon reopened, and Republican Gov. Jan Brewer had a conversation Friday with [Interior Secretary Sally] Jewell. Since then, however, the state said it has heard nothing.

"It's been more than 14 hours since Secretary Jewell and Gov. Brewer spoke,” said Andrew Wilder, a spokesman for the governor. “We’ve placed multiple calls yesterday, multiple calls today trying to reach them."

He said the state got an email from Interior Department staff proposing a phone call take place Friday, but after the Arizona officials agreed, they never heard back.

"They're dragging their feet, it appears," Mr. Wilder said.
