Two years ago I utilized Amazon ads on Marathon Pundit--making a small but welcome amount of money, all of which was plowed back into the blog. But after Gov. Pat Quinn and his fellow Democrats in the General Assembly passed a law that all Amazon sales that originated from blogs and affiliate sites in Illinois were subject to state sales tax, Amazon shuttered my shop and hundreds of others.
But on Friday, in a 6-1 vote, the Illinois Supreme Court, citing a federal law prohibiting "discriminatory taxes on electronic commerce," tossed out Quinn's law.
Will my Amazon shop reopen?
Stay tuned.
Speaking of Amazon, my good friend Teri O'Brien has authored a caustic new book, The ABC's of Barack Obama: Understanding God's Greatest Gift to America.
