(Photo) Beck Lake--created by the building of the Tri-State Tollway

Environmentalists, and increasingly the Democratic Party, view the building of highways as a menace. But near several miles west of Morton Grove is Interstate 294--the Tri-State Tollway. Created from digs for fill to build the physical version of the Washington beltway, are several lakes near Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

One of those bodies of water is Beck Lake, near Glenview and Des Plaines. In this photograph it is graced by gorgeous cirrus clouds.
