(Photos) 2013 Skokie Backlot Bash Classic Car Show

For a brief period before World War I, Chicago was a center for movie making. And Skokie--then called Niles Center--was used for some backlot filming. And each August Skokie celebrates this heritage by holding its annual Backlot Bash festival, which includes a classic car show. I was there this afternoon with my camera.


Here's a backlot-era car--a 1917 Ford Model T.


Thirty years later this 1947 Coupe rolled off of Ford's assembly lines.


Here's a coupe of a different color, a 1965 Cadillac de Ville.


Now we turn to the vintage car show standards. First a Ford Mustang from 1969.


Followed by a Chevy Corvette--a 1963 model.


Here's a 1934 Ford Pickup--notice the spare tire behind the passenger door.


In 1954, the Hudson Motor Car Company and Nash-Kelvinator merged to form American Motors, which was later run by Mitt Romney's father, George. The Nash name carried on in Great Britain. Pictured here is a 1961 Nash Metropolitan built in the UK.


Fittingly, parked next to the Nash was a 1954 Hudson Hornet.


It's muscle time. Above is a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396.


Moving up a year--you see a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS.


Another GM muscle car from the same era was the Pontiac GTO convertible--this is a 1966 model.


Also from 1966 is this Chevy Caprice.


The GMC Caballero was a coupe utility vehicle--this black beauty is from 1987.


The only true foreign car in this collection is this 1962 Jaguar MK 10.


It was hot this afternoon--perfect convertible weather. And a great day to drive a 1969 Oldsmobile Delta 88.


This post began with the oldest car on the lot and it concludes with the newest, a 2001 Plymouth Prowler.
