There is some good news for the Republican Party this morning--which has been a commodity that has been in short supply of late. Democratic Senator Jay Rockfeller of West Virginia announced that he will be retiring at the end of his term in 2015. The Mountain State has been safely Republican in presidential elections in the 21st Century, but as with Georgia until about the same time, The GOP has struggled down the ticket.
Could this be the breakthrough for the Republican in West Virginia? U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a popular GOPer, had already announced her intention to run for the Rockefeller seat.
