(Photos) Occupy Chicago's old hangout: Just one occupier for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon

It was 52 weeks ago when I first encountered the Occupy movement--when I took the el to downtown Chicago to watch the marathon. They had about 30 protesters in front of the local Bank of America headquarters at the corner of Jackson and LaSalle--across the street from the local branch of the Federal Reserve. And that's where the leftists occupied before moving to their "OccuLoft," courtesy of the benevolence of a still-anonymous donor.

This morning after the runners passed through--the full name of the race is the Bank of America Chicago Marathon--there was just one protester at their old home.

Like Joe Biden's Recovery Summer, Occupy Chicago has withered away.

Here's our occupier. His sign reads, "Full democracy helps us cross the finish lines. Plutocracy hurts us and holds us back." Of course if the Occupy movement had their way, there would be no winners in the Chicago Marathon--the race would end with a 40,000-person tie for last.

"The people united, will never be defeated."

What if there is just one person?

Now..let's look at what Jackson and LaSalle looked like a couple of hours earlier.

Those are State Farm Insurance tents. The mega-firm is one of Illinois' largest private employers--the old Occupy stomping grounds were "occupied" today by big business.

Occupy...the agony of defeat.
