I tell my daughter not to wait to the last minute to complete her school assignments. Which is what the Chicago Teachers Union is doing in regards to its contract negotiations with the leadership of the Chicago Public Schools. Yesterday afternoon CTU president Karen Lewis told reporters, "We have not formally met with them."
But they did meet last night. Negotiations ended at midnight--a cram session--and Lewis said that progress was made and classes could resume on Friday.
This behavior does not set a good example for Chicago's school children.
UPDATE 10:10am: The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Lewis now says it is unlikely that there will be school tomorrow.
