No school again: Chicago Teachers Union strike continues

The Chicago Teachers Union strike goes into a fourth day--there will be no school on Thursday. The union, which is "for the kids," seems to be dragging its feet. CTU's bombastic president Karen Lewis, who I predict will be back teaching chemistry when this walkout is over, told reporters at 2pm today about the leaders of the Chicago Public Schools: "We have not formally met with them. We have not received a formal response to our proposal."

Perhaps if you did meet with them you would have received a response.

As is often the case with Lewis when she says something stupid, another CTU official walked back her statement, stating that several small groups were meeting throughout the day.

Even the Reverend Jesse Jackson--a big union supporter--seems put off by this mess, decrying the lack of urgency on both sides in regards to ending this strike.

It's a rare day when I agree with Jesse.

There is some good news: The striking teachers did not disrupt this evening's rush hour in Chicago's Loop.
