From the Washington Examiner:
"After graduating from college, we did everything we thought we should do to be successful -- Craig went to business school, I went to law school, we got prestigious jobs at an investment bank and me at a law firm. We soon had all the traditional markers of success: the fat paycheck, the fancy office, the impressive lines on our resumés. But the truth is, neither of us was all that fulfilled," said Obama. "I was living the dream, but it wasn't my dream. And Craig felt the same way, unbeknownst to me."What a load of crap. Both Obama and Robinson ended up working in the not-for-profit sector, where it's possible to become rich. She collected $316,962 from the University of Chicago Hospitals in 2007. One of her duties there was to push the Urban Health Initiative; it's goal was to steer poor patents away from the UofC's emergency room to other medical facilities, which is something she neglected to mention in that Oregon speech.
So they quit; she went to work in the Chicago mayor's office and her brother became a basketball coach. "A successful career alone does not make for a rich life. As you've all learned from the friends you've made and the relationships you've formed here at OSU, what makes life truly rich are the people you share it with," encouraged the first lady.
But Michelle didn't completely separate herself from corporate America. She earned $51,200 from TreeHouse foods in 2006--she served as one of its board of directors. That type of "job" mostly entails sitting in on a few meetings each year.
As for her brother, while I admit he had to pay his dues as a coach with some presumably low paying coaching jobs, his base salary at OSU is $750,000.
That's a "fat paycheck". And it makes for a "rich life."
