Erin Go Che: Galway planning to honor murderous communist thug with monument

Ernesto "Che" Guevara, an Argentine doctor who didn't take his Hippocratic oath seriously--"never do harm to anyone," had an Irish ancestor. His father's last name was Lynch. Some people in Galway, Ireland are impressed by this killer--his victims number in the 200 range. They want to build monument to Guevara--based upon that iconic image that has been displayed on thousands of T-shirts.

As an Irish-American--many of my ancestors were from western Ireland--I'm appalled. But I'm glad they left Ireland.

Fausta's blog suggests emailing Cameron--but please be civil. However, it might be a good idea to ask Cameron how he would feel if Buenos Aires built a monument to Oliver Cromwell--the man who utilized what is now called ethnic-cleansing in Ireland.

Agree with you on Che. But what about Batista? The regime that Castro overthrew was a quite ghastly one. It's about time American Conservatives were honest on this issue.

Bautista was bad too. Although Cuba's standard of living was behind only the US, Canada, and Argentina among Western Hemisphere nations in 1958. Now its ahead of only Haiti. Perhaps Cuba, like Chile, might have transformed into a thriving democracy by now were it not for Castro and Che.

Yes, I'm aware of the brutal nature of the early years of Pinochet's rule.
