Fox News video: Walker defends WI reforms, slams Illinois

This morning Governor Scott Walker defended his money-saving reforms in Wisconsin on Fox News' America's Newsroom.

Between the state and local governments, $800 million has been saved so far, Walker asserted.

If Big Labor gets its way and removes the Republican from office, here's what the reformer told host Bill Hemmer would happen afterwards: "We're going to be not only like Wisconsin in the past, we're going to face the same type of dilemmas that places like Illinois do today--because they failed to make the tough choices."

Moody's lowered its bond rating last week for Illinois, which Walker says, correctly, places the Prairie State in a shameful category, "worse than California."

Hemmer chimed in about Illinois, "They are deep in the red."

Walker didn't stop there about the Land of Lincoln. "That's why they have 10 percent unemployment versus ours at 7.3 percent, which is down from a year ago."

Walker was sworn in last January.

Illinois hiked its personal tax rate by 67 percent and its corporate income tax rate by 46 percent a little more than a year ago.

Our governor, Democrat Pat Quinn, accepted over $5 million in campaign contributions
for the 2010 general election.

Since the tax increase, Illinois' unpaid bill backlog remains at $8 billion.
