Meanwhile in Wisconsin, Republican Scott Walker is playing hardball with the public-sector unions and attacking his state's budget deficit.
But south of the "cheese curtain," Quinn and the lame duck General Assembly pushed through a bill that raised the personal income tax rate by 67 percent.
Taxpayers pay the salaries of public workers. Unions, thank to the state, collect dues from their paychecks. Some of that money goes for political campaign contributions--and nearly of that cash goes to Democrats.
Without that money, the Democratic Party as we know it cannot exist.
Yes, I'll trade Quinn for Walker. Hat tip to TrogloPundit for the picture.
The actual total of public-sector union contributions to Quinn is likely higher than what I've tabulated. For instance, a Laborers local wrote a check to Quinn/Simon for $1,000, but the Washington office of the Laborers Union contributed $225,000. I didn't include the DC donation in my total since most Laborers aren't goverment workers.
This is the way it is in Illinois. And the way it is stinks.
Quinn's public-sector union cash for the first six months of 2009: $62,000
Quinn's public-sector union cash for the second six months of 2009: $785,000
Quinn's public-sector union cash for the first six months of 2010: $500,000
Quinn's public-sector union cash for the second six months of 2010: $4,238,000
Total Quinn public-sector union contributions since January 1, 2009: $5,585,000.
People of Illinois: This is your government. And Pat Quinn is the public-sector unions' Five Million Dollar Man.

Dirty, dirty, dirty...
I don't know what it would take to clean up that cesspool.
Once these leeches get a hold of the public purse, it would take kerosene to get rid of them.
Not that I'm suggesting that...
