Newt's rise

Newt with Marathon Pundit
Written off for dead a few months ago after some staff defections, the presidential campaign of Newt Gingrich continues to gain momentum. Two national polls put the former House Speaker on top--one with a ten point lead, the other has him in a statistical dead heat with Mitt Romney.

Meanwhile, a poll of Iowans shows a statistical four-way tie at the top. The leaders are Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, and Gingrich.

Newt still has an ace to play, his wife Callista, a Wisconsin native, went to college in Luther College in northeastern Iowa, where she graduated cum laude.
