Obama speech--last week's dog food

I listened to President Obama's jobs speech on the radio on my way home from work. Nothing was new in it. It's last week's warmed-over dog food. Or, dog something else.

It's called the American Jobs Act, and it was delivered--again, I was listening the radio--as if the president was a hard-sell life insurance salesman. He sounded very-unpresidential.

He used class warfare:

Should we keep tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires, or should we put teachers back to work so our kids can graduate ready for college and good jobs?
And he misled:

Now it's time to clear the way for a series of trade agreements that would make it easier for American companies to sell their products in Panama, and Colombia, and South Korea, while also helping the workers whose jobs have been affected by global competition.
But Obama has not sent those agreements to Congress, he's had 32 months to do so. The president is more interested in kowtowing to Big Labor, which opposes FTAs of any kind.

And there was a misstep, albeit a humorous one:

Now, I realize that some of you have a different theory on how to grow the economy. Some of you sincerely believe that the only solution to our economic challenges is to simply cut most government spending and eliminate most government regulations. (APPLAUSE, presumably from only Republicans.)
He didn't say "stimulus," but it's just another one.

But I do like the payroll tax cut.

Oh, why didn't Obama say how he is going to pay for the American Jobs Act? "Stimulus II" will cost $450 billion.
