In her jobs plan, Rep. Judy Biggert (R-IL) calling for passing the three pending free trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, and Panama, among other things.
Good idea. President Obama has been urging Congress to pass those agreements, but what he leaves out of his pleading is that the ball is in his court--he needs to send the FTAs to Capitol Hill. Obama has been sitting on those agreements since he was sworn into office.
Something might finally be happening in regards to the FTAs. The US Senate passed funding for the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program, which was set up to assist workers who have lost their jobs because of international trade.
CBS News writes, "President Obama has said he will not send the trade agreements to Congress before the TAA funding is passed."
Obama hasn't said that in any of his forceful speeches about passing the FTAs.
