Sears Holdings, which has been based in Illinois since 1886, is considering leaving because of our high taxes. The rottenest fruit from the January lame duck session--a 46 percent corporate tax increase and a 67 personal jump in the personal income tax hike--was quickly signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn.
Michigan is Sears' latest suitor. In a way it could be a holding. K-Mart, which Sears purchased in 2005, was based in the Great Lake State.

Let it go. Sears has gotten enough subsidies from Illinois taxpayers.
