Yahoo! Travel names Mesa Verde among world's best ruins

Petra in Jordan, the Colosseum in Italy, the pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall of China--it's an elite group of ruins. And Yahoo! Travel ranks these among the world's best--along with one American site, one I visited last summer: Mesa Verde in Colorado. Ancestral Puebloans built the homes, some can arguably be called apartments, from the 6th century until the 12th in what is now called the Four Corners region.

I visited the intellectually fulfilling and visually inspiring Mesa Verde National Park in July.
