Illinois increased its corporate income tax by 45 percent in January. People who live here are paying 67 percent more when they file their personal income taxes. Meanwhile, corporate tax breaks are soaring, AP is reporting. Last year Illinois agreed to $272 million in corporate tax breaks--a more than four-fold increase since 2006. And since Governor Pat Quinn's tax hike, $230 million in tax breaks have been handed out by Quinn. Not only do we have seven months to left in 2011, Sears, which has been based in Illinois since 1886, is threatening to bolt unless Quinn issues concessions.
If Quinn had his head on straight he would not only lower taxes for everyone, but he'd create a more equitable workers' compensation system and stop kowtowing to unions--who hire almost no one.
Over the last few decades, there has been more job growth in the right-to-work states.
The White House hands out ObamaCare waivers. Quinn distributes tax breaks.
Why do Democrats complicate things?
